Taqla History

Hidden within the dense forests of Central America, the monolithic city-states of the Taqla rise above the jungle canopy like ancient titans. Frogmen, masters of the underground waterways and cenotes, navigate these hidden realms, while necromancers relentlessly seek captives to sacrifice in honor of their gods. The land of Taqla is both chaotic and breathtakingly beautiful—warriors clad in ornate feathered attire engage in ceremonial battles, their actions driven by deep religious fervor. Meanwhile, jaguars and giant frogs prowl the shadows, stalking the unsuspecting.

Cuaulta
Cuaulta stands as one of the largest and most dominant human city-states in Taqla. From the summit of its towering temples, rivers of sacrificial blood are said to flow endlessly, feeding the gods and empowering its necromancers. The dead, raised through dark magic, bolster Cuaulta’s armies, ensuring an unrelenting force that strikes fear into its enemies.

Ahuacatl
Ahuacatl, a Frogman city-state, serves as Cuaulta’s greatest rival. Unlike the humans of Cuaulta, the Frogmen shun necromancy and instead master water-based enchantment magic. Their warriors utilize their powerful legs to perform swift hit-and-run tactics, gradually wearing down their numerically superior foes. Through their agility and clever strategies, Ahuacatl carves out its dominance as a fierce competitor in the chaotic world of Taqla.

Taqla Playstyle

The Taqla city-states are locked in a near-constant state of ritual warfare, driven by their need to capture enemies for dark and powerful rituals. Their armies are diverse, ranging from relentless hordes of undead to swift and agile frogmen, as well as fierce and brutal warriors.

Frogmen

Frogmen are some of the most agile units in the game, known for their unparalleled mobility and adaptability. They possess abilities that enhance movement, allowing them to bypass obstacles and traverse the battlefield with ease. Their agility makes them excellent at flanking enemies or quickly seizing strategic positions.

Captives

Central to Taqla’s strategy is the captive mechanic, which rewards players for defeating enemy units. By sacrificing captives in ritualistic fashion, players can unlock a variety of powerful benefits. These range from gaining additional card draws to summoning free units, allowing Taqla to maintain a steady flow of resources and reinforcements. This mechanic adds a layer of strategy, as players must balance capturing and sacrificing enemies to maximize their advantages.

Necromancy

The Cuautla, Taqla’s infamous necromancers, are masters of dark magic. They use their abilities to raise and command hordes of undead, ensuring that the battlefield is never short of soldiers. This relentless cycle of raising the fallen and sending them into battle exemplifies Taqla’s ruthless efficiency.
